Sciton Launches More Power and More Options at American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting

Acclaimed aesthetic laser company introduces a more robust laser-assisted lipolysis system at annual conference

PALO ALTO, Calif. — March 6, 2009 — Sciton, a leading manufacturer of high-quality laser and light systems in the aesthetic medical market, debuts a more powerful ProLipo PLUS™ at the American Academy of Dermatology’s Annual Meeting, March 6-10 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco (Booth #328). The ProLipo PLUS module will now have 40 watts of power on all wavelengths available — making this FDA-cleared, minimally invasive laser system more effective for melting unwanted fat and coagulating tissue resulting in a tighter, slimmer body. With 40 watts of power at 1064 nm, 40 watts at 1319 nm, and 40 watts from its diode laser*, ProLipo PLUS is the most powerful and versatile laser-assisted lipolysis system available.

Frequently used as an adjunct to traditional liposuction, ProLipo PLUS can also be utilized as a stand-alone treatment for patients who are not candidates for traditional liposuction. It also facilitates optimal results in challenging areas such as arms, medial thighs, and chin.

“We are thrilled to introduce the more powerful ProLipo PLUS at this year’s AAD,” said Robert Ruck, Vice President of World Wide Marketing at Sciton. “We continue to introduce improved products that enhance physicians’ ability to deliver stunning patient results. In keeping with our commitment to non-obsolescence, this increased capability can be added to all earlier versions of our systems. Sciton lasers are enabled for tomorrow’s technology and applications. They have an easy upgrade path as procedures evolve.”

“The ProLipo PLUS system is a significant reason why my liposuction body contouring treatments have been so successful,” said Neil Goodman, MD. “Now, with even more power and blended wavelengths, I expect to see a continued improvement in liposuction outcomes, which were previously unobtainable with the technology which was available only 1-2 years ago.”

Sciton’s ProLipo PLUS offers physicians a new level of flexibility — its multi-wavelength capability means that physicians can choose to use each of the wavelengths alone or combine the benefits of all wavelengths. The 1319 nm wavelength is readily absorbed by water in the tissue immediately surrounding the tip. The 1064 nm wavelength is absorbed over a broader region of tissue, heating the treated area more effectively. The diode wavelengths have a high absorption coefficient in fat and a relatively low absorption coefficient in water. ProLipo PLUS treatments can be customized with a complete range of precisely adjustable settings to achieve the body sculpting results desired for each individual patient.

The following array of body treatment areas can effectively be contoured using ProLipo PLUS: chin, neck, male chest, arms, back, abdomen, flanks, hips, waist, buttocks, thighs and knees.
