Want to Increase Your Chances of Approval?

Follow these best practices to capture Before & After images that accurately reflect your clinical outcomes.

Choose the Right Equipment

High-quality tools create high-quality clinical imagery.

  • Facial imaging systems, such as VISIA®, Vectra®, Reveal®, and FotoFinder, provide standardized lighting, positioning, and multi-angle documentation for consistent before-and-after photography.
  • Smartphones (12 MP or higher), including iPhone 14 or newer, can deliver excellent results with proper settings. Consider portrait mode for a more professional look.
  • A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a 90–105 mm macro lens captures detailed skin texture for accurate before-and-after comparison.

Get Lighting and Positioning Right

Consistency helps ensure results are captured clearly and accurately.

  • Photograph patients in the same location, lighting, and background each time
  • Use soft, even lighting—avoid harsh sunlight, strong artificial light, or flash
  • Select clean, solid backgrounds (blue, gray, or black)
  • Use a tripod to maintain angle, height, and distance
  • Keep the camera level and aligned with the treatment area
  • Avoid digital zoom—move closer or crop afterward

Build Credibility Through Consistency

Authentic images create trust in your outcomes.

  • No makeup, filters, or retouching
  • Hair pulled back from the treatment area
  • No jewelry or distractions
  • Neutral facial expression
  • Consistent distance and framing

Capture Clear, Clinically Useful Images

Small technical details make a big difference.

  • Minimum 2.0 MP resolution
  • No built-in flash—use ambient lighting
  • Include front, profile, and three-quarter views
  • Maintain consistent timing between treatment and follow-up photos
  • Consider dedicated B&A software such as RxPhoto, Canfield Mirror Suite, or FotoFinder
