Hair Removal Laser from Sciton Will Revolutionize the Market

Reno, NV — April 5, 2000 — Sciton, Inc announced today at the 20th annual meeting of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery that it is entering the hair removal and vascular market with a new laser.

By analysts’ estimates, the combined hair removal and vascular markets are well over a billion dollars per year market in the U.S. Sciton’s goal is to provide physicians with one laser that will effectively and efficiently treat all skin types and hair colors, in a relatively painless manner. Chris Zachary M.D., FRCP said, “Providing a pain-free procedure that can be performed quickly is essential.”

According to Dan Negus, President of Sciton, Inc., “We have taken a long hard look at the hair removal and vascular markets and believe we have the unique technology to provide the customer with a single, effective solution.”

In 1998, Sciton revolutionized the skin resurfacing market with the introduction of the Contour™ dual-mode long pulse erbium laser that allows physicians to independently select the depth of ablation and coagulation. Physicians are able to choose the depth of treatment required to achieve effective results in measurements of microns of tissue, resulting in an extremely repeatable and uniform treatment.

Sciton’s hair removal laser* incorporates long pulse Nd:YAG with the option of additional wavelengths. The laser has been submitted for FDA review for both vascular and hair treatment and is pending clearance.
